Section 1 — About the Choir
The Choir was founded in 1944 and celebrated its 75th birthday in 2019. We are a mixed voice choir of Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses, operating on a termly basis with three Saturday evening concerts per year, usually in December, April and July.
During term time we rehearse at St John the Evangelist, Grove Lane, Kingston upon Thames KT1 2SU, on Wednesdays from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, with a short break for tea and coffee.
Section 2 — Repertoire
Our Musical Director David Condry conducts our performances and rehearsals. Our repertoire is predominantly classical — Bach, Elgar, Handel, Haydn, Mozart — but also includes more modern composers such as Rutter, Barber, Sullivan and Whitacre. Wherever possible we use professional musicians and soloists in our concerts.
Section 3 — Subscriptions
Choir members generally pay £100 per term, payable by cash, card, cheque or bank transfer. This includes the £75 subscription and a suggested £25 for tea, coffee and refreshments at every rehearsal.
Discounts available:
Under 25s — 50% discount
